Gooood morning!
I'm super excited right now because a) it's Friday and b) it's the beginning of the month time for another Monthly Mantra! (If you're new to my Monthly Mantra campaign, head on over to this lovely post!)
Okay, so I don't know about you guys, but the beginning of the month just feels so fresh to me. Turning to a new month in the calendar and filling all your plans in... it makes me feel so happy for the days to come!
As I pencil in all the events, I begin to think of the challenges the upcoming month will bring.
I find it comforting knowing that I have some go-to life advice and nurturing words tucked in the back of my mind when I need it.
For example, in January while I ran longer and longer distances, repeating "it's not supposed to be easy" over and over got me through the tough runs (or sometimes just the anticipation of the run). It also got me through some mentally tough days, finals, and day-to-day tension that comes with the joys of high school.
:)
Last month, on days I was tempted to lay around on the computer all afternoon or when I felt like mentally beating myself up after a particularly hard day, I remembered that "good decisions make good habits. (And in turn, good habits make a good life.)"
I can honestly say that having a mantra to get me through the days has been a wonderful addition to my life. It sets the tone and just makes me feel more collected and comfortable with the pace my life is going. (Since we know that I'll never be able to perfectly control my life.)
That being said, I'm definitely going to continue my Monthly Mantra again for March.
I actually knew way back in January what my mantra for this month would be.
This month is busy. On top of my mid-term papers, huge lab reports, and tests coming up (bleh!), I get to celebrate 4 years with Chris, run my first half-marathon, oogle at the fact that my brother is turning 15, and spend a wonderful week on the beautiful beaches of Florida! How's that for jam-packed?
I am so excited for everything, and I want to soak it all in. In these next 31 days there will be some pretty awesome moments. I want to remind myself that "this is what we came for."
I got this mantra from a Christmas card from a friend of my mom's. She talked about how so many of us get wrapped up in the struggles of life, we feel frustrated or nervous when things aren't 100%... But it's what we came for!
Yeah, that last stretch of 13.1 miles is going to be tough, but it's what we came for. It's the struggle that makes finishing that much more special.
And that feeling of accomplishment when we do cross the finish line? Oh, you bet it's what we came for!
When I'm sitting on the beach in my swimsuit, sipping a smoothie, and soaking up the rays? This is definitely what we came for.
I'm excited for the days to come, and would be thrilled for anyone to jump on the Monthly Mantra campaign (ou don't have to write a big long post like I do - just declaring a mantra is perfectly fine. It's your life. Do what you want. ;) ) Just take the image and insert it into your sidebar if you please. Here's to a lovely March for all of us!

Omg girl, this is perfect! I absolutely LOVE this mantra :) It couldn't have come at a better time for you...so many exciting things coming up (even those big exams and reports since you're that much closer to graduating!), and it's ALL what you came for :) I can't wait to see what the month brings, love!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh why are all your mantras so perfect? You're going to get after that half and you're going to rock it! I think I'll just repeat all of your mantras to myself since they sound better than anything I could ever come up with on my own.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you. It's so awesome that we have fresh starts every month. And these mantras are AWESOME. I have a tough time really finding a mantra that resonates with me, but I definitely have to try it. Can't wait to hear how your half comes along. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat attitude girl, I am always impressed by how aware you are of yourself and your environment. keep rocking!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your mantras :) Good luck with that 13.1 miler! I am planning on running one in November... I should probably train for it...
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! The beginning of March totally snuck up on me... I'm still thinking about what my mantra is going to be this month.
